Welcome to Bioinformatics Materials for Highschool AP Bio

We are University of California Santa Cruz graduate students in Biomolecular Engineering and Bioinformatics department. Under the leadership of Kevin Karplus (karplus@soe.ucsc.edu) we created a set of activities, including student worksheets, teacher's guides, and other applicable materials, which help high school teachers teach biology topics to their students using bioinformatics tools and methods. These activities have already been presented in high school settings as a part of the AP Bio curriculum. We hope that these materials will be useful to you and your students as well. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or requests.

Based on the survey we conducted, students would also like to see the following topics covered by our teaching units. Some of these topics would not benefit from bioinformatics, as bioinformatics does not have much to do with them.
